"Many Haitians who live in rural areas cannot cultivate their land or keep a sufficient number of livestock due to a lack of means and resources."
Every family identified by the KANPE program receives seeds and livestock (animals), which then become a source of nourishment and a primary means of subsistence.
For this primary source of nourishment to be sustainable and recurrent, KANPE provides practical training adapted to the types of culture and soil, therefore resulting in a more abundant crop to ensure dietary self-sufficiency.
Support is also provided so that family decision-making is led by a long-term vision whose first objective is to meet dietary needs while providing the possibility for income earning activities.
